Prayer is a Dialogue.

“Prayer is not a monologue, prayer is a dialogue. We speak to Hos with everything from words to groans to thoughts. And God speaks to us through dreams, desires, promptings, impressions and ideas.” – Mark Batterson

I believe prayer is something that is easily overlooked and we forget the importance of staying in communication with our God.

“Devote yourself to prayer, being watchful and thankful.” – Colossians 4:2

Remember that the more you pray, the more you notice and the less you pray, the less you notice. It is as simple as that.

Prayer creates our senses to become aware and prayer allows the Lord grand opportunities to surprise us in many unexpected ways.

I started a 40-day prayer challenge about a month ago and what I have noticed is that I am more aware of ‘life’ around me. I have realized once again that I am not in control and the Lord always is. More importantly, prayer has allowed me to give all the glory to God. We seem to day after day overlook the greatness of our Father and when mighty things happen in our life, we forget to give praise and glory to the Big Man upstairs.

We need to view praying like it is planting. We are planting each prayer like it is a seed getting planted in the ground.

Then,
We need the patience of the planter.
We need the foresight of the farmer.
We need the mindset of the sower.

Remember, if we do the little things like they are big things then God will do the big things like they are little things.

PRAY. PRAY. PRAY.
Start your dialogue with Christ right now.

Pray daily. It is your divine appointment with your Father.
When was the last time he heard from you?

I would like to say I have not blogged because Sean and I have been busy, but in all honesty I have spent the past month in reflection. Yes, Sean and I have had our moments of busyness and we have enjoyed every moment of it due to the fact that it has been with family and meeting amazing new people, but we both have had time to enjoy one another and again, reflect.

As many of you begin to read my blogs or have read my blogs in the past at followmapenzi.tumblr.com, you know that I tend to write a lot about fitness… It seems that the Lord really shows up when I am running.

I found that when I am at my weakest moment of the workout or the run, He tends to remind me every time that my strength is found in Him.

The past year has been full of changes for Sean and I not only in marriage, but also in allowing the Lord to do what He does best, take full control of our lives. We both had different plans, as well as had a love for Africa (Kenya) and the people, but we could have never imagined that He would of called us to the field full time to serve Him wholeheartedly among the people in Kenya. Everyday we are reminded by each other of Gods grace and his kindness. We both were willing to do it alone and then God gifted us with one another. The Lord took both of us to make us one, so we could be a stronger cord together. He put us together, so we could serve and represent what it means to love one another like God intended husband and wife to love.

I would be lying if I said I didn’t miss Kenya because I do. I am absolutely honored to have the time at home and see family especially the mama J A girl always misses her mama, but am also eager to get back.

Kenya is our home. It is where we know the Lord has us and at times I struggle with the everyday life of America especially with so much time I have had on my hands lately.

But, everyday the Lord reminds me not to give up. To strive, to work hard and more importantly to continuously pray.

One more thing, I wanted to encourage each and every one of you to keep your eyes on the Lord and never give up. I would like to share my devotional yesterday:

“That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day.” – 2 Corinthians 4:16

Devotion:

‘Have you encountered a snag in your life?...a lost relationship, rejection from a school or job, financial hardship or maybe simply a lack of determination. You might be praying for God to give you the strength to get back on your feet. But do you know how powerful God is? Instead of limiting your rescue to a level you understand, have faith and believe that God has a plan beyond returning you to ground zero. Through God, you have the capability to excel way beyond your limits. Jot down a goal that you think is impossible then watch God’s plan unfold.’
